Details
Pulling in build techniques from the classical guitar world and beyond, Paul Woolson is an explorative luthier who isn't afraid of innovation. This 2009 Jumbo Parlor has a host of features, though the one most likely to have caught your notice is the double top of cedar and Lutz spruce. Though it's something that classical builders have done for decades, it's a new concept for flattop acoustics, and involves quite a process. Two thin tops (in this case one of cedar and one of Lutz) sandwich an ultra thin layer of honeycomb material in a vacuum process, creating a stiff and stable soundboard that requires only light bracing. In the end, the guitar is incredible dynamic and responsive.
From there, the other features will be familiar to any fans of modern guitars: cantilevered neck for increased soundboard surface to vibrate, side soundport for player monitoring. Paul's jumbo parlor size is slight but deep-bodied, resulting in a fat, resonant tone that's much louder than you'd expect. Overall condition is excellent, and it comes with a custom Calton case.
